Our Digs In Barcelona
Instead of renting hotel rooms or suites everywhere, we did something different on this trip. In the places we stayed more than 2 days – Madrid, San Sebastian, and Barcelona, we rented apartments. More work, more variability, but definitely more room. In Barcelona we have a 110 square meter (almost 1200 sqft) 3-bedroom palace. It’s nicely furnished and has everything we needed for a lovely stay. Except for the wifi connection. Access and bandwidth seem to change at random with the hotspots moving around the place at will. I think the wifi router is strapped onto the back of a tortise who is randomly making his way about.
The photo above shows the entrance to Independencia, 350. It is owned by the charming Frédéric and Carmen of Apartments Barcelona. I recommend them highly. Everything was as it should be, and they took care of the very few things that were not. Plus they gave us a great list of local places to eat, and took care of a few small bits like arranging for our taxi to BCN. It was almost like a hotel stay. http://www.apartmentsbcn.net/
This is a view of the living room. As you can see, nice room. Lots of light. Something you can’t see: great air-conditioning. They’ve got other places as well, and from what I can tell, all of the same quality.

We stayed there in 2006 for a week and found it fabulous and convenient. The beds were a little hard but we just folded up the extra blanket from the closet and put it under the sheet.
They must have gotten new beds. We slept wonderfully.
